     Overdue Books

  • If a student has a book checked out, they are responsible for that book. Students will be expected to pay for any lost or damaged book.
  • Students will not be able to checkout books if they have overdue books.
  • Reading teachers are given overdue lists on the first and fifteenth of every month.
  • An overdue notice slip will be placed with midterm grades and report cards. In May, letters will be sent to parents to notify them of overdue or lost books.

Agendas and Passes

  • Barcodes are given to students to place in their agendas at the beginning of the year. Library and lunch numbers are the same number.
  • We request that students have their agendas when they come to the library. This is their library card and hall pass.  Students may record due dates in their agendas.
  • Students, please use your own agenda.

Scholastic Reading Counts

WMS has used Scholastic Reading Counts since 2000. The program was purchased as another tool in assessing a student’s understanding of the books he/she reads and assisting with reading intervention.

Each book quiz has 30 multiple-choice questions.  Students answer 10 questions each time they take a quiz, giving them three opportunities to pass the quiz.  Twenty four hours must elapse between tests.  Over 4,200 tests are available for a variety of reading levels.

Library Reservations

  • Library use by groups outside of WMS should submit a Facilities Use Form to the WMS office.
  • It would be helpful to notify library staff 24 hours of equipment needs.
  • Please make time before the presentation to make sure your product works with our equipment.

Privacy

We are legally bound not to share circulation information (which titles students have checked out) with anyone.

Gifts

All gift materials must meet the selection policy as stated in the BOE policy handbook – IFBD-R.  Please check with the librarian to see what materials would be acceptable or recommended for purchase.
