I am Marcia Hermesch and I currently teach 3rd, 4th and 5th grade music at West Elementary.  I have been a music teacher since 1994 in Kansas public schools.  I have taught both instrumental and vocal music in grades K-12.

Class Times

Third Grade - 40 minutes twice a week and 20 minutes once a week

Fourth Grade – 40 minutes twice a week and 20 minutes once a week

Fifth Grade – 30 minutes every day

Early Riser’s Choir – 20 minutes every day before school

 

 Activities

All grade levels participate in activities such as singing, playing instruments, listening, dancing, improvising, composing and performing.  We have a fun time experiencing music in a variety of ways. 

 

Early Riser’s Choir

The Early Riser’s Choir is a volunteer fifth grade performance choir.  They learn a variety of music from different eras and vocal styles.  They have numerous opportunities to perform in the community such as for our school, the nursing homes, church groups and the Manhattan Town Center. 

 

Concerts

All grade levels perform a concert once a year.
