

My name is Joanie Doperalski. I have taught in USD 320 for 37 years, 22 of which have been in the library. I have two Master’s degrees, one from Kansas State University and one from Emporia State University, as well as a Bachelor’s degree from Emporia State. Professionally, I belong to the following associations: Kansas Association of School Libraries; Delta Kappa Gamma; National Education Association; Kansas National Education Association; the Wamego Teachers Association.

LIBRARY ASSISTANT
LIBRARY CLASSES
Each class meets weekly for a 40 minute time period which includes a short library lesson and library book checkout.
LIBRARY BOOKS
Students may check out three items from the library for a period of 14 days. This includes one magazine if the student desires. Students checking out materials will be held responsible for the cost of replacing lost or damaged items
TEXTBOOK CIRCULATION
Students are responsible for all textbooks checked out in their name. Students will be held responsible for the cost of replacing lost or damaged books.
ACTIVITIES
Literature Group—Literature Group is available to all students at West Elementary. Permission slips need to be signed by parents in order to participate. Literature Group takes place five times a year over the noon hour. Discussions are held over literature read by the students in groups of 4 to 5, along with an adult facilitator.
